BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo Metro Area is home to countless locally and nationally recognized nonprofit organizations that play a critical role in shaping the community. Young professionals, both working and volunteering in the community, are eager for opportunities to connect with one another, develop their skills, and learn more about what it takes to successfully lead initiatives and nonprofit organizations into the future. Recognizing this interest, a group of passionate individuals came together in the fall of 2012 to form a local Young Nonprofits Professional Network (YNPN) chapter.

The purpose of Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Greater Bflo (Buffalo) is to engage and support current and future nonprofit and community leaders through professional and personal development, themed networking, and social opportunities specifically designed for nonprofit professionals. “At this point in YNPN’s history, we have chapters all across the country that have become deeply rooted institutions in their communities with thousands upon thousands of members. These chapters, however, all have the same origin story: a small, committed group of young local leaders looks around and recognizes that their local nonprofit sector and their local community could be made even stronger if it was more engaged and better connected,” says YNPN National Director Trish Tchume. “So they start a chapter of YNPN. In Greater Bflo, that origin story belongs to the YNPN Greater Bflo Leadership Team (Adam M. Bartoszek, Ryan Daley, Lauren Kalczynski, and Naomi Pabon-Figueroa ). The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network is honored to have this new chapter join the national movement of emerging leaders who are advancing a diverse and powerful social sector.”

An informal launch event is planned for September 24 at The Pearl at the Lafayette Hotel (Greenhouse Room) from 5pm-7pm. The YNPN Greater Bflo Leadership Team will unveil details on the upcoming 2013-2014 year that includes a Lunch & Learn series (hosted by The United Way of Buffalo & Erie County), themed networking events, and a chapter service project. There are no costs associated for nonprofit professions in attending all Lunch & Learn Sessions, Themed Networking Events, and chapter service projects. Originally founded in 1977, YNPN is a continuously growing national organization aimed at helping young people to build successful, sustainable careers in the nonprofit sector and contribute meaningfully to the communities in which they live. The newly established YNPN Greater Bflo is one of over 30 chapters throughout the country.
